Summary: Eliot Gordon is a 38-year-old working mom, living a conventional life with her partner, Grant Delaney, his two daughters and their one daughter together. Then Finn Montgomery, Eliot’s long-lost first love, appears, triggering a shocking chain of events that threatens to unravel everything she’s worked for. How Eliot survives and what she loses in the process, is a story that will resonate with anyone who has ever loved a child.
My Thoughts: Jodi Picoult is quoted on the cover of this book which I found to actually be reminiscent of one of her own novels. This is a very intense story with Eliot having to make a choice between saving her biological child and one of her stepdaughters, brought on by the fact that she was distracted by her former lover. The characters are very well written and you feel Eliot’s pain as she has to make this terrible choice and live with the consequences of it. I loved the book and highly recommend it to fans of contemporary fiction and Jodi Picoult. I’ve already passed it on to my sister-in-law to read!
My Rating: 5/5
