Summary: Polly Atkins, a Londoner living in New York City, is headed back to England for her wedding. Her sister Bella can’t wait to take over the wedding plans, along with Polly’s best friend, Grace, whose life as a wife and mother is making her feel older than her twenty-eight years. Unfortunately, Polly calls off her wedding to the most perfect man on the planet for reasons only she knows. But Grace and Bella are determined to get Polly and her fiance back together if it’s the last thing they do.
My Thoughts: First of all, I always enjoy stories set in England or Ireland. I just love their expressions, underwear is knickers and everything is so posh and a cup of tea will solve almost any problem. Polly is actually a secondary character in this book, as the story is told through the eyes of Grace and Bella, so you actually know more of what is going on in their minds and lives than Polly’s. Grace and Bella don’t get along and just tolerate each other for Polly’s sake and it was interesting how in one chapter, Bella would describe an encounter with Grace and be totally offended by something Grace had said to her and then in the next chapter, you would get Grace’s take on that same conversation, where no malice was intended. There were a lot of fun and interesting characters and I really got caught up in finding out why Polly would want to cancel her wedding. Great summer reading, however I won’t let my future sister-in-law read this one until after next Saturday (when she is marrying my brother!) Don’t want to give her any ideas!!!
My Rating: 4.5/5
