Tilly Silverberg is a young widowed mom who has thrown herself into her gardening business to hide from the world. She is approached by James Nealy, who suffers from irrational fears and compulsions, to build him a garden. When a family emergency brings Tilly back to her family in England, James follows her to convince her to work on this project with him.
My initial thoughts when reading the back of this book, were eh, so so. However, I was pleasantly surprised! This is a really touching story about Tilly, who is trying to survive and create a healthy life for her son after the death of her husband and James, who suffers from OCD and desperately wants to conquer it. I was especially taken with James’ character and his struggles with his disorder and his persistence in persuading Tilly to work with him, although she is clearly dead set against it. It’s hard to imagine physically and mentally needing something so bad that you will do anything to ensure that it happens. This was a totally engaging story and I highly recommend it!
My Rating: 4.5/5
