Former actress, Meg Barnes, used to have it all; the Beverly Hills address, Amex black card and a career as a popular TV detective that made it all possible. Unfortunately, she loses everything, thanks to her con man of a husband. Thanks to his real estate scam, Meg lost everything and is now homeless, besides also thought to be a conspirator in her husband’s scam, who has conveniently been “kidnapped” and disappeared, thought to be dead. Meg sets out to prove her innocence and get her life back.
I thought this was a pretty timely topic, given all the scandals involving people being bilked out of their life savings going on now. Meg was a really likeable character, who is trying to maintain her dignity, despite her horrible circumstances. Along the way, she runs into some interesting people, some of whom are trying to help her and some who hinder her. It really kept my interest as I was trying to figure out if she was going to be able to dig herself out of this hole. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a light mystery.
My Rating: 3.5/5
